Mr. Book just finished The Demon Of Unrest: A Saga Of Hubris, Heartbreak, And Heroism At The Dawn Of The Civil War, by Erik Larson.

This book was published in April 2024.

This is a book about the events leading up to the Civil War. The book contains of short, unnumbered chapters, skipping around from one character to another. It got off to a slow start and most of the entire part one could have been cut without losing anything. But, once President Buchanan makes his first appearance at the start of part two, the book takes off.

This is a very thorough and well researched book that was highly enjoyable.

I give this book an A.
